Between Kampot and Koh Rong / Koh Rong Samloem / Koh Sdach Islands.
All in Cambodia
Now Open

These times might be slightly different, especially the Koh Sdach times. Tickets now $15 to the two big islands and $33 to Koh Sdach Island.
Important Note: if the 90 person ferry is not running, there is a smaller and older 50 person boat that takes 45 minutes to an hour longer. And there is no bathroom. Could be a long 3 hour trip.
you can also go to and from the Islands from…
The SihanoukVille Tourist Port
Travel time between the mainland and the islands is about 40 to 60 minutes and $30 round trip. Most buses and the train stop right at (the train a a few minutes away from) the SihanoukVille Port.
And now you can go to the Islands from Kampot with another company, just upriver from the Port.
Book a ticket between
Kampot and the Cambodian Islands

Note: After going to the Islands, you can return to either Kampot or SihanoukVille. If you are going to both places, there’s no discount for booking a round trip. You can change your return date from the Islands with one day’s notice.
More Notes: When you arrive at the Kampot Port, a coffee shop and small mini-mart inside the port now. Bring your own beer for the trip.
When arriving at the Kampot Port from town, the free Wi-Fi password is at the entrance, when leaving, it’s at the exit…
When arriving in Kampot from the Islands, there’s a bunch of Tuk Tuks (cart pulled by a motorcycle) waiting for you. Good for 3 people and a lot of bags crammed in. It’s $4 to go downtown, more for other destinations. If traveling alone, you can share!
You can call +855 96 8500 669 (phone or Telegram) to book a Tuk Tuk. If you book a Tuk Tuk in advance. They’ll be waiting for you at the Port. We also use Grab or PassApp on our phones, which works pretty good. If you’re staying in Kampot and don’t have transport, you’ll definitely want one of these apps. You can also rent an automatic scooter in town for $5+ a day.
Buva Sea, the boat company, and the Port do not have any public transportation to or from the Port.
To get to the Port from Kampot, you’re on your own. Most people get a large Tuk Tuk or PassApp or Grab (free apps you can download.) About $3 – $4 from downtown. A bit more from further away.
The ship leaves Kampot at 8:30am. It has 90 seats. Very well could depart a little late.
Looks like 1.5 hours between Kampot and Koh Rong Samloem, 2 hours between Kampot and Koh Rong, and 2 hours and 15 minutes++ between Koh Sdach Island and Kampot. Longer times and no bathroom if the smaller boat is running.
All ships return to Kampot from the islands at 3:30 in the afternoon. (could be 4:30 on the smaller boat). Probably a bit late… If you’re going from between Kampot and Koh Sdach, a smaller boat arrives and leaves from the Koh Rong Pier.
The best part about having the Kampot Port here in Kampot, is that you can spend a few days in Kampot on your way to or from the Islands.
Check with your hotel ahead of time and see if they can arrange transportation to or from the Port for you, either free or paid. Free is better.
The bigger hotels on the Kampot River might even send you in their own boat!

(This means you can stay longer or shorter on the Islands as long as long as you let Buva Sea know a day or more in advance) You can also go from the Islands to the SihanoukVille Port if you are then going on to Phnom Penh or Koh Kong. This way would be much faster and a bit cheaper.
Possibility Delay
Please be aware that our schedule may experience delays due to weather conditions. We appreciate your understanding that any delays are a result of these factors and not a cause for complaint.
Don’t Complain. They won’t go if it’s not safe. Usually high winds or waves. July through October this happens the most. Or the Ferry will just stop for a few months. You can still use the SihanoukVille Port to get to the islands. Happens a couple times a year. You may have to stay on the Islands or mainland an extra day or two.
Prohibited Items: The following items are strictly prohibited onboard:
Dangerous, flammable, or explosive items
Firearms
Narcotics
Smuggled or illegal products
Passengers, for reasons unknown to us, will need to show your passport, or local ID to get on the boat. No immigration, no questions or nothing. They just want to see it. Same when you get off the boat in Kampot. No other port in Cambodia does this. A photo of your passport is O.K.
There’s a bathroom on the 90 person boat, but better to go on land.
(it’s small and there could be waves.)
No bathroom on the smaller boat that takes up to 3 hours between Kampot and Koh Rong Island.
They may ask you to wear a life jacket before departing.
Most people just take it off after departing.
The front seats of the boat are quieter than the back.
Unless you’re sitting in the front of the boat in front of the captain.
Lots of wind!
Really no assigned seating.
If it’s safe, the boat captain will let you sit up on the front of the larger boat.
Very windy, but fun.
If it’s calm waters in the ocean, and you’re on the big boat, the ride is fun. You sail right next to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. You’ll see several Cambodian Island as well. Ream National Park and SihanoukVille.
If there’s waves, it’s not so fun.
The “International” part of the Port’s name refers to future trips between Kampot and Vietnam and Thailand. Maybe sometime soon.? Maybe?
Pack your bags… and get ready to go!
